| Go to Church so God won't someday say, "Who is It?" |
For years, mininsters who have visited the church where I
worship, have predicted that ours was destined to be a great church. We know that God speaks to us by putting His words
in our minds if we're truly following Him, and time after time, visitors have said that God has spoken to them about this.
I've always pictured this as meaning that someday our church would be filled with people, which in our personal thinking
indicates success. But it appears that God had a different way of greatness. Our church
has developed into one of the best in giving to, and promoting, missions and missionaries. We are pledged to monthly
offerings to 40 missionaries, plus offerings over and above those pledges, going to the missionary fund at Assembly of God
headquarters in Springfield, for distribution among other missionaries. And recemtly, when Benny Ferguson
was here to help us further our missions project, he was so amazed at our plan for giving, that he later asked Pastor Cleghorn
if he could write an article on what our church is doing, to publish for other churches to see and hopefully follow.
And it began to dawn on us, that God wasn't talking about filling the pews of our church. He was seeing our help
to missionaries all over the globe, who are spreading the Gospel of Christ! From India to Mexico to Soth Africa toThailand
and around the world, we're helping spread His Word. And what could be greater than that!
We aren't looking to God to tell others that we're a "great" church, but we can expect to hear Him say one
day, "Well done, thou good anf faithful servant!"
