"Normal helpings and no seconds." And this lengthy one; "Moderation
in all things good for me; abstinance in all things bad for me. And test nothing that can eventually master me." Those will work for anyone. I weigh the same as I did in Navy Boot Camp in 1948, and it wasn't
any trouble at all. In fact, I didn't even give eating a thought. I suppose you'd say that while some
live to eat, I eat to live. I admit...eating is one of God's gifts so we can have a thing to really
enjoy. But too much of any good thing can become a sin. That's where those "Thornton Diets" phase
in. And it should begin for every person in the form of the parent feeding the child enough, but not too much.
"Chubby" may be cute as an infant, but can endanger your health and cause uncomfortable situations from pre-teens
to funeral. God taught moderation. Even in the wine they drank back then, which I've read
was because so much of the water back then was unhealthy. Maybe true; maybe not, but there can be too much of a good
thing. Which brings me back to part of my words of a minute ago, to not even test anything that could eventually get
the mastery over me. God taught common sense. Read the Law by which He had the Israelites live.
Not eating pork, I feel, was because it must be cooked very well to be safe. And it's so tasty that it's
possible that folks would eat before the dish was ready. Or since tent-living was so prominent back then, they cooked
over an open fire and didn't cook foods long enough. Whatever the reasons, God knew best, and He still does. The Bible is a Book to Live By. Make no mistake...follow it and your life will be better.
And your After-life will be so wonderful that even if it were possible, you wouldn't phone back to tell us, because there
are no words to adequately describe it. The Apostle John saw it, and said so. Try it.
