Blessed Lord, you haven't left us with details about the animal pets who capture
our hearts so easily. We do know of your love for sheep, and how you've compared each of us to those creatures,
and how you rode into Jerusalem on a donkey that had never been broken, as the time neared for you to go back to Heaven.
And we know that a time is coming when the lion will lay down with the lamb, and there will be peace
among all creatures.
And we know that the dog has the kind of love that you want from we humans...love
even stronger than the marriage vows among us...to love through the best times and the hardest times, and the pet cat knows
us and accepts our love. And even the cattle knows and comes to the one who feeds them.
And
it gives us comfort that when we humans get to Heaven, that nothing that we want, will be withheld from us. All those
will be good things, and it stands to reason that if we want our pet with us, it will be granted. Anything else will
not even be a factor in our thinking. The things that are not there will not come to mind.
Blessed
Savior, we're not able to understand this...and so how good it is that we can leave all things in Your hands, whose love,
compassion, patience, and knowledge of all things, even to our thoughts are so great that they can't be measured.
You made a place for animals, and we can rest in that comfort.
We pray to you, Blessed God, in the
