Have you ever known of a time in history that so many secrets come to light? We used to call them “skeletons in the closet,” but those bones have taken on new flesh, and everyone is looking.

A would-be congressman is haunted by a sentence he said back when he was young, comes to light and is quoted on Radio and show on TV. He can truthfully say he’s against the “N” word, but back when he was a kid, repeated a foolish sentence, and he’s in hot water. Mark Twain, in his great stories of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, used words we deplore now, and Zane Grey, one of the greatest of Western stories, had stories in which those killed in a gun fight included “just a Mexican.” It was a sign of the times, and most of us know better now.

But did you know that back in Biblical times, Christ spoke of that problem. He said “there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, neither hid, that shall not be known.” He continues with, “Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.” Do that sound like today’s Radio and TV, or WHAT!

And that 12th chapter of Luke goes on to say that God knows all of this, and says, in fact, that “the very hairs of your head are all numbered!” In other words, anything and everything that CAN be known, is known already by God.

And that includes the past, present and future. Nothing surprises Him.

But there’s a consolation. No matter how bad you’ve been and the things you’ve done, God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit can forgive. If you come to God with true repentance and with your pledge to live for Him, he not only forgives; he forgets those things, and you start from scratch, right here and now! So don’t keep bringing them up in your mind. Hard for us to understand, because we don’t have the capacity to forget. But He does. Only one thing can’t be forgiven, and that is to speak against the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 12:31-32). If you don’t understand about Him, don’t say anything about Him. Better safe than sorry. But that’s another story! Begin now, living for God, and the day will take care of itself.
