I saw an unusual sight recently. A man had pulled his vehicle over to the side of the road, to talk on his
cell phone!
There are good people…persons who consider themselves law-abiding folks…who
might not have pulled over. They reason that they have to consider the inconvenience to traffic, and they rationalize that
it isn’t really heavy enough to be dangerous, to talk for a minute on a cell phone . We have many instances where it
“makes sense” to fudge a little.
Let’s think for a moment, about the person who attends church and is as good as a boy scout on Sunday…but
has problems he struggles with through the week, that he’s trying to put down. Things that got to be habits in his youth
that now won’t let go, in spite of his hate for them, down deep inside. We’re quick to think words like “hypocrite”
aren’t we.
I’ve wondered…is it possible that the weekday man is one that person wants to shed, but who is
entrenched so deeply, that satan almost wins him back when he’s away from other Christians. I’ve wondered whether
the Sunday Man is the Real Man.
It’s so good that God is our final judge, and he knows us so well that the very hairs on our heads are
numbered (Luke 12:7). He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows how the soldier will act in battle, who hopes he
won’t desert his buddies when the bullets are real. God knows us totally, and will judge accordingly. God looks on our
hearts, and so is a totally honest judge.
One more thought: I wonder whether God may judge us on our strengths, rather than on our weaknesses. Ask God
for His help when you awake each morning.
