The Bible is very clear…the Israelites are God’s Chosen People. However, it’s also clear
that we Believers are now included in that number as His Chosen. (Romans 2:29, 9:6-8, Galations 3:7, 3:29, 5:2-3).
I agree with many who are much more adequate that I, that the United States has been blessed because it has
been a friend of Israel. And I also agree with many, who are concerned that our government is now making noises of disagreement
with the Israelites, because God has always frowned on such feelings by other countries, down through history.
However, God has also crushed Israel, time after time, for not obeying Him. In many cases, He has called that
disobedience “adultery,” because they had grown lax toward Him and had made other “things” their gods.
And what hurts to admit, our own country has gone down that road, also, and I fear that we too, will feel His wrath.
Time and again, even before Israel was in slavery to Egypt, the reason for their predicaments was unfaithfulness
to God, but as He had so many times, He forgave them and brought up Moses to lead them back. But they have never learned their
lesson…they’ve continued to drift away, then have received God’s forgiveness, back and forth, down through
the ages.
There have been, and are now, many Jewish people who have turned to Christ. I knew one personally, a Reverend
John Rousey, who seemed to know the Bible by heart, and was a fine minister.
I’ve never seen a study on it, but I’ve often wondered if that was the case when Hitler attempted
to erase them from the face of the earth. He hadn’t studied the Bible, or he wouldn’t have been so foolish. And
he paid for his error. Daniel and Ezekiel recorded many of the Israelites’ adulteries to God, and Hitler was only one
of many who rued their actions.
But the greatest error of the Jewish people was to deny that Jesus was the Christ, and when the Roman leader,
Pilate, found no fault in Him, and the Jewish people said, “Crucify him; his blood be upon us, and on our children,”
(Matthew 27:25), that seems to have come about.
But even with that, there’s hope for them. They are still His chosen People, As was predicted by Jeremiah(23:8),
they got their own land again (in 1946), largely because of United States action, and my personal interpretation of Romans
11:26, “And so all Israel shall be saved,” is that they will still find favor with God, and come to Him to stay.
I pray that this is the case.
There is room in Heaven for ALL, and God has delayed Christ’s coming, so that more of them can be saved.
