When
is Christmas. You can raise an argument with that one, but suffice it to say that just because someone chose December 25th
as His Day, doesn’t mean that they nailed down that precise date as his birthday. We folks…all of us who celebrate
that date are only remembering Him on a date common to all of us.
We don’t really know the season. I consider it a hint, that shepherds were tending their sheep nearby,
and I suppose that means there was grass for them to nibble on, and if that were true, we might even rule out
mid-winter. But that’s not the point. We Christians just want to remember what happened at His birth,
and someone chose an historical date and dubbed it.
And every year, we run on about how commercial Christmas has become. But again, we’re just trying to
be nice, giving gifts like the wise men did (incidentally, we don’t know there were three; it’s just that three
gifts were given, so we assume). And again, that doesn’t matter.
Look at it this way; what if we didn’t have a special day to remember. That’s like not letting
a child have a birthday gift or party, or hearing folks say, “happy birthday!”
And so in the end, it’s like this: It’s no sin to remember with a word we call “Christ-mass,”
or Christmas. And it’s no sin NOT to remember, if you’re so inclined. I’ve told you at other times, there
are things various denominations have decided are to be done, or not done, and my thinking is that The Lord looks down and
chuckles, and says, “oh, that’s alright. They aren’t harming anyone, so as long as they believe in Me, and
live for me, I’ll go along with their traditions. Christmas! And so….Merry
