You’ve probably had folks look down their nose as they asked, “God talks to you? How does He sound? Big, holy voice, or what?” Well, the thing is…He puts a thought in your head. At least, that’s how He is with me.

For example…we were all set to go out of the state one Monday, and were to be away for four days. My wife uses a Cochlear implant in her left ear, and a regular hearing aid in the other, so what day does both of them decide to go on the blink? A little before noon on Friday, before we were to leave on Monday. And the Cochlear place in Kansas City, Midwest Ear Institute…closes for the weekend at noon on Fridays. Why didn’t we put off the trip for a day, so we could see the Cochlear people Monday morning. Well, because we were going with another couple, and those were the days they were free. Also because you don’t tell the Cochlear implant people when you’re coming…you ask what week they can take you.

Okey…so we go on the trip with my wife hearing at maybe one-fourth hearing ability. We make it through the visit and get back home, ready to call Midwest as early as possible on Monday, hoping Midwest can squeeze her in as soon as possible.

Then at about two a.m. that Monday morning…God speaks to me.

No…not a voice…He wakes me up and puts in my mind, the thought, “Why don’t you put both of those hearing things in that dryer that Midwest gave you with the implant?”

So I got up and put them in the dryer, and when I got up at regular time, I got up and put the battery into the regular hearing aid, and it started squealing, like it’s supposed to do when it’s ok. I had my wife put that one in, then she put in the Cochlear, and her hearing was fine. Because the two work together. And so the early phone call and hopefully, a rush trip to Kansas City were unnecessary..

Why did He wait til all else had failed? Because I was the one who forgot to ask Him for help. So He let me stew.

This is not an unusual situation. It has happened several times. I’ve mentioned other instances to you on this program.

Whether He works this way or not, it’s just a good idea to stay in touch with Him, through His Son, Jesus Christ. Today would be a good day for You to get acquainted with Him, if you haven’t already. Think about it.
