This is not a commercial for Fox News, but it is the news station that thinks like we do…Bill O’Reilly,
one of its top news men, took a poll to find what we viewers feel was the funniest show ever, and from thousands of answers,
from fifth to first were The Carol Burnett Show, M.A.S.H., All in the Family, Seinfeld, and I Love Lucy.
And what was common among them? For one thing, not a curse word in the bunch, and for the other, all but one
were on in the 70’s. Lucy was back in the 50’s, but it was clean, too. Personally, I might have put my number
one as the Beverly Hillbillies. But that’s another story.
But what a difference from today’s, where the dirtiest gets the top ratings, and each week, each show
is trying to out-do the others. The best shows today are the news programs, but even they are full of murder and mayhem, and
so you don’t feel good, even after watching facts, instead of imagination.
People who don’t read the Bible much, like to point to the sins among even the best people recorded
there, and how God caused countries to fall. But they miss the points…the Bible shows that all have sinned, and all
make mistakes, even among the best of us. And that forgiveness is big in the Bible; King David, for example, and the Apostle
Peter, who denied Jesus, not once, but three times within an hour or so as He headed toward death on the cross.
And God puts down nations because of their denial of our Living God. If those people who search for faults
in the Bible should read long enough to see the reasons behind those bad things, and how Jesus Christ came to give us an even
better way than we see in the Old Testament. I remind…this present life is all the heaven that sinners will ever know,
and for Christians, it’s the only hell we’ll ever know. Buck up, Christians; an unbelievably better life is waiting
for us, just the other side of a breath.
Pray for those who read just enough Bible to argue!
