Just because you don’t hear much about the North Pole doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Same
thing about the place Christians call “hell.” But they don’t call it very often. And that kinda lulls us.
The fact is, we talk so much about the LOVE of Jesus, that we smooth away the fact that folks who don’t accept that
love are headed for a place worse than death. Because death is a moment, while hell is eternal.
In at least 15 places in the Bible, I’ve found mentions of “hell, eternal punishment” and/or
the “lake of fire.” Matthew, Mark, Luke, and the book of Revelation speak of it, as well Amos, one of the minor
prophets, saying, “Though they dig into hell,” which seems to indicate that hell is inside this earth. And of
course we know that earth’s core is molten matter.
To check a few places…In Matthew 8:12, Jesus says, “shall be cast out into outer darkness; there
shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” And Jesus says in 10:28, “fear him which is able to destroy both soul
and body in hell.” In 13:42, he says, “and shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and
gnashing of teeth.” And in 25:46, Jesus says, “And they shall go away into eternal punishment; but the righteous
into everlasting life.”
The space I allow for these comments doesn’t give room for all the places that place is mentioned, but
those of you who might want to look up some of them, I’ll list them at the bottom of this article. Just go to “billthorntonconquests.com,”
and click on the title, “Silence doesn’t mean non-existence.”
But in closing, I remind that if you’ll get right with Christ, you won’t have to worry about that
place. Think about it. (Also see) Mark 9:43-44, Luke 16:23, Rev 14:9-12, 21:8, 14:10-11, 19:20, 20:14-14
