Have you questioned in your mind, the scripture where Jesus says “in the resurrection they neither marry,
nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.” (Matthew 22:30).
The Sadducees are again trying to trick Jesus into something they can take out of context, and have asked
Him about a woman who was married to a man who died, and so a brother took her (as was a custom back in Old Testament times).
And this went on through seven brothers, then the woman herself died. They asked Jesus whose wife would she be in Heaven,
and He explained that this won’t be a situation there. (Incidentally, in those times, “Sadducees” did not
believe in resurrection, while the Pharisees did).
And here’s my personal opinion as an explanation: I’ve told you at other times, how age won’t
be a problem, but that we’ll know others we have known, as we remember them. I once wrote a song I called “Hometown
Christmas,” of how “memory knows no miles…I see it even now…my mind erases wrinkles from every friendly
brow…we’re in our teens again, with time to laugh and plan…so take me back to my hometown.” In Heaven,
there won’t be a problem of who is married to whom…it will be a place of unadulterated love; (that is, pure, unqualified
love) with nothing there to let differences of opinion spoil its wonder, and there’ll be no such word as “time,”
so Heaven is going to be…well, HEAVENLY.
Which gives me cause to remind you that if you haven’t yet made peace with The Lord, do it now. Tell
Him you’ve had enough of hellish thoughts, and want to be ready when he either calls you, or comes for you.
