You’d have to be my age, to remember a lady minister named Aimee McPherson. She preached to the people
of Hollywood back around the 30’s. I was just a kid, so I don’t remember how she came to be accepted out there,
but it happened. And in recent years, I’ve found myself saying, time after time, that Hollywood needs another Isaiah,
or Elijah…another Paul the Apostle…or another Aimee McPherson or another Billy Graham, to go among them and tell
them what it is they’re searching for.
Paris Hilton…drunk, driving without a valid driver’s license; Britney Spears and her mom, saying
the police were unfair for arresting her for these things and more…and Lindsay Logan, who had the sympathy of at least
one reporter, who said Lindsay was a girl crying out for help.
Is there no one to tell them who that help is? Surely someone is out there who those fancy people would find
acceptable to at least have a conversation with them…to tell them that it’s Jesus Christ they’re looking
for.
Even if it’s a fancy dude who has his own jet plane; if that person would talk to them about Christ…even
if he had some of his facts wrong, like those movie producers who make religious movies…the Apostle Paul said, “whether
in pretence or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. (Phillippians 1:18). And Isaiah
said, “so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void.” (Isaiah 55:11).
And so, although we must study to make sure that what preachers say is true and according to the Bible, even
those who are, as we say, “in it for the money.” For if they preach Jesus Christ and that He is The Way,”
we mustn’t muzzle them. Speaking the truth, even for the wrong reasons, is still the truth. and Hollywood, right along
with the people on the street where you live, need to hear it, in any way that someone will preach it.
Pray for a Voice to rise up to keep Billy Graham’s message going…that Christ, indeed, The Answer.
