The May Fly has a lifespan of one day. If those tiny insects had the power to reason, wouldn't we humans seem
like gods to them? The same thought came to me while pulling little two-inch-tall maple seedlines from a rock garden one spring.
If they were grown trees and we uprooted them in a moment's time as we did those just-sprouted plants, we'd be compared to
a terrifying tornado. And what must ants think when we tear up their world with a single mis-step?
If we can understand the comparison between us and smaller plant life, why can't we realize the greatness
and everlasting glory of our God, who holds the past, present and future in His hands!
If we can dip into a pool with a stick and save a drowning bug, how much easier can we be helped by the God
who made everything that was made.
And remember that as the storm uproots our trees and damages our homes, that WE are the ones intruding on
what God made in perfection. He makes the winds to trim the forests; His lightning is to make forest fires, to clear the brush
away. His plan is right, whether we agree or not. Your prayer can be for protection.
As you start your day, breathe a word of devotion to Him, promising Him yourself, and asking Him to protect
you from the things that might tempt you to forget Him.
