Let me soothe you ahead of time…if your choice for President doesn’t win, don’t let it get
you down.
I remind you of Paul’s letter to the Romans, Chapter 14, verses one, and I like the wording of the Living
Bible as it says, “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions
of authority have been placed there by God.” Then verse four says, “The authorities are God’s servants,
sent for your good. And later in the verse, it says again, “so you must submit to them.” And verse six says, “They
are serving God in what they do.” (And I add, Whether they realize it or not!).
And so, although we don’t see all, as God does, we can rest in the fact that He is in charge. We know
that the people’s rating of Congress is at about the lowest level it has ever been, but there are good people there.
For example, Senator John Boehner was on TV recently, when Congress was voting 700 billion to save us from
a depression because of how people had been enticed into bad loans, with those companies raking millions into their own pockets,
even as their companies were about to fail. And Senator Boehner said, “I said my prayers this morning, like I do every
morning, that I would do the right thing in voting on this.” He added, “this bill is not how I would have written
it…I’m not pleased with some of the bill, but we must act because of the good it will do, overall.” And
he closed, saying, “Remember those words, ‘In God we trust,’ because we are going to need His help.”
Pray for our leaders, whomever they turn out to be!
