There are lots of people who say that prayer doesn’t work. One thing is sure…for them, it won’t.
Because prayer and faith go hand in hand. Without prayer, faith is useless, and without faith, prayer is useless.
I’ve note many times the fact that becoming a Christian doesn’t automatically eliminate all troubles
and burdens. And I’ve reminded you that if that were true, the act of “becoming a Christian” would turn
into making a deal with the Lord…a “you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch your.” thing. And as Jesus
said from time to time about insincere people who do nice things just to get recognition, “Verily I say unto you, they
have their reward.”
And so with this in mind, we can better undertand why Christians have many valley to contend with. And the
answer is that Jesus is our bridge from mountain top to mountain top…stretching above the valleys that would take away
our peace. Like my comment a minute ago that prayer and faith go hand in hand…so does the valleys and mountains. You
can’t have one without the other. There are bound to be both sad (the valleys) and happiness (the mountain tops).
And so to folks who don’t believe in prayer…pity. To whom do you go when there’s trouble?
Oh, you can call a plumber for a water break, but when those intangibles come…a death in the family or other hardships
that money won’t fix…then who will help you.
I tell you to put your faith and trust in the Three of the God Head; God the Father, Jesus Christ, the son,
and the Holy Spirit, who is the Comforter Jesus said He would give to us when he ascended into Heaven after his time in person
here on earth. Then, prayer will work.
