Does it bother you when a new church pops up in your neighborhood? You think you have “enough churches”
in town? Suppose it was the opposite. Be thankful it’s not a new tavern.
But put that tavern thing aside. Let’s consider the new church, or an expansion from another church,
or an office for an out-of-town church. I’m telling you to be thankful for any and every person or organization that
helps spread the Gospel and the name “Jesus Christ.”
Remember that Isaiah 55:11 says “His word will not return unto me void.” And in Philippians 1:18,
the Apostle Paul tells us that” whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached, and I therein do rejoice.”
He was
speaking of persons who were preaching in envy; some in contention (that is, just to argue); some preaching
not sincerely, just to cause trouble; and some in love. But however Christ was being preached, he said (and I repeat) His
word will not return void.” It reminds me of the actor who said, “I don’t care what they say about me, just
so they spell my name right.”
Folks, never find fault if more churches come. The business world calls that “competition,” but
we call it spreading the word that Jesus is the Christ. Every person who becomes a Christian, through whatever means, is one
more that satan has lost. Pray for other churches and denominations, and especially that we all read and interpret His Word
correctly.
